Book Club

I never know what to wear to book club, you don't want to look too nerdy but there is nothing more tragic than rocking up looking totally over dressed. Having said that I overdress for most things so that wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary.
I digress, here is the outfit.
Shoes are from Zomp, jacked is vintage Christian Dior from eBay, bag is vintage Pierre Cardin from Camberwell Markets, top is Mink Pink from Mossman, jeans from Wrangler.
I have to digress again and tell you about the jeans:
We all find a brand/label of jeans that suits us and flatter us in all the right places. Some are expensive, some are cheap, some are middle of the road. I have a few labels I always go back to, and Wrangler is one of them. These jeans were on a clearance sale in Myer reduced from $189 to $85. I tried them on and they did wonderful things for my derriere, the colour was perfect, cut extremely flattering in all the right places.
They were boot cut, verging on flares(I'm frowning right now).
Not to be put off I decided there and then for $85 of my hard earned cash I could turn them into skinny jeans. And I did. Voila!

Happy!

So I have no idea how many of you that read this live in glorious Melbourne, but the weather can be(and is known to be) temperamental at best, erratic at worst.
Despite the fact that I had jeans and a shirt on with a jacket yesterday, its far too hot for that today.
Plus, this dress makes me happy, so hot weather + happy dresses = outfit zen.
Dress from Sussan, belt from Camden markets, shoes Marcus B from Myer.

To wear or not to wear.

So here is a little collage again, but its more about the actual outfit and I suppose displays some of what we all go through getting dressed.
I am thrilled to tell you that most of it is second hand, nothing like the thrill of the chase.
Shirt vintage, thirfted from Shag. Black jeans, Evie from London. Grey jeans River Island. Red jumper, Country Road. Scarf from Camden markets. Grey suede belt thirfted from American Rag on Brunswick St. Tafeta skirt from Savers(another $7 bargain), grey heels $5 from Salvation Army. Red patent belt from Veronika Maine.

Well dear readers I've had the flu which has seen me out of action almost since Valentine’s Day. You however do not log on to hear about my runny nose and temperature, it’s simply for the outfits so to make up for the lack there of over the last week here is a selection of what’s been going on this week.

Denim...again

I don't know why but I just can't seem to get out of jeans at the moment. Try as I might I can't help the secure allure of denim for almost any occasion. I'm thinking about imposing a denim ban next week because I'm worried I'm forming a rather lazy habit of just throwing on a pair of jeans. Tomorrow will be a dress I can assure you.
Anyhow, still rather happy with this albeit lazy outfit for a mid week dinner:
Shoes are from Ravel in London, belt from Portobello Road markets, also London, jeans from Valley Girl, silk top is vintage Country Road thrifted from Savers for $7, jacket from H&M. You can't tell but the beads I made myself and are a semi precious stone called white labradorite which looks like a granite or marble stone.
Goodness how could I forget the bag- MNG, leather, picked it up in Barcelona.
I just realised this isn't a very Melbourne outfit, please forgive me.

Wednesday

I made the dress, sometimes when I can't find what I want to wear I make it. It's rare in good old Melbourne (or eBay) but it does happen. Silk fabric cost me $3 a meter, so for anyone out there that can dress make I've no doubt you can work out how much the dress cost me.
And speaking of eBay that is where my boots are from, a little made in Italy vintage affair I just couldn't do without. It's not even winter in the southern hemisphere, but I knew they would be perfectly happy residing in my wardrobe until such time as it’s chilly enough to wear them. That or around the house, one or the other.

Shoot Me!: Golda Saira

Part one in our series of 'Shoot Me!' for 2008 I am pleased to present Golda Saira.
Her style is definitely Melbourne, a little bit vintage, a little bit 70's glam, a little bit ghetto. I adore her mixture of amazing vintage finds such as the dresses below, mixed with designer accessories(Louis Vuitton and Prada to name a few) and local Melbourne talent like Ammo.Original style from someone not afraid to wear it as she feels fit.
