It's alot cooler, even compared to just a few weeks ago. I've been dying to wear these boots, I bought them back in January in store for winter and didn't think I'd be able to wear them until at least April. Anyhow, they had their first outing today.
I was shopping in Savers on Sydney Rd in Brunswick looking for an outfit to wear to a 1920s party and came across the fur jacket. Couldn't got past it for $29. Expect to see much more of both the boots and the fur in winter to come!

I drink you not

Happy Friday everyone, its cocktail time. I was going to showcase my outfit from today which I was thrilled with because it was cool and raining for the first time this year which meant boots and coats. Always a joy!
Anyhow, off to some fab new bar opening so I thought I'd dig out the sequins.

An Easter Affair....The Cape

So I've been playing around with the many ways one can wear a cape and let me tell you, there are many. The weather turned cool today so I got to wear it out, still deciding whether I want to keep it ladylike with a dress or more casual with jeans. What do you think?
Either way I absolutely love it and am thrilled that I have one in my wardrobe now.

Tights are from Target, Shoes are Zola and YSL, jeans are Valley Girl.

I have also had a few questions on where I find all these great little bargains. I call it 'digging for gold,' or basically looking in every shop you pass by and going through every rack in the hope or event that you may find such things as, well, a cape.
This divine little number was found in a shop called 'Shivers Boutique' in a little German settled town called Harndorf in Adelaide. I was walking into the shop as my friend was walking out and I asked her if there was anything worthwhile inside. She quipped- 'The whole thing gives me shivers, give it a miss!'
In must be in my nature you see but I couldn't.
Walking past the vinyl shoes, badly made shell jewellery and Nanna style shirts I went to the back of the shop, where, in the very corner on the bottom rack under a whole lot of aqua blue crocheted sequin numbers, was my cape.
The shop was closing down(which means you always have to enter, it just screams bargains) and after trying it on and deciding I wasn't leaving without it, I asked the shop assistant the price. 50% of the sale price which totalled $25.

So in a nutshell, even if the shop looks tragic don't be put off, digging for gold can often times produce a nugget.

An Easter Affair....

A short sojourn to Adelaide for Easter found me in little off beat towns rummaging through thrift and antique shops- naturally. This is just a tiny sample of what I found, many more tea cups, scarves, a dress and shoes to come.
My camera is still being repaired so sadly until further notice these are all taken on my old 3.2 mega pixel camera. Seems like dinosaur technology these days!

Welcome to my wardrobe some autumn/winter colour. Even better they were on sale at Target today so I love them even more.
I have put them on with a dress, but I expect many more creative outfits as the weather turns cooler day by day.

Tea

I inherited this tea cup along with 2 other sets from my Great Aunt Una. I didn't know her very well really, she was incredibly old fashioned and stuffy, but she had the most lovely tea sets and would only serve tea from them, nothing else.
I thought they were worthy of a cake as well so I made one just to eat off the plate.
The dress is Elle B and again part of the Salvos haul, ballet flats are Zoe Wittner, pearls I made myself as I did the Camellia in my hair.

Sweet Relief

Finally a drop in the weather! My makeup didn't melt and my flowers haven't wilted for the first time in a week.
That meant sleeves were bearable today.
Vintage dress from the Salvo's, bag as well. Shoes are Kurt Geiger, pearls I made myself and the ribbon was given to me on a present.

Putting it to Use

So here is outfit number one from my weekend spree and considering it is still 40 degrees I'm quite happy with it.
I'd like to add that I have a thing about painted, manicured nails. I do them myself because I think there is no need really to have them done, apart from the luxury or if they are fake(mine are not) and I particularly love red or pink. I think details like painted nails really finish an outfit. Hhhmm.
Anyhow, Sunnies are re-issue Le Specs, top is H&M, skirt is vintage Miss Selfridges thrifted from Salvation Army, shoes are Tony Bianco, bag is MNG from Barcelona, nails are Mabelline 'Cutie Pink.'
I made most of my own jewellery except for the locket which was a gift from my Great Aunt Rose, Lady Didham.

Hot and Happy

So I think mother nature thought, what the hell, why make it 38 degrees, when I can do 40(104F)?
Despite the sweltering heat I managed a day of op-shopping and proudly present my findings. If I told you which shops they would be plundered and alas I would have nothing to write about, but I can tell you all of it is from the Salvation Army.
The coat is pure wool, fully lined and cost me all of $8.75.
Black and white dress is begging to be worn with opaques and a trench but I'm not even going to attempt it in the name of fashion in this heat. Stay tuned for the winter version. It was $5.75
Maxi dress is actually a lame fabric which you can't see from the pictures and is silver/black and white tones. I'm throwing a cocktail party in it's honour, I think it deserves one. $10.75.
Black crepe shell dress is a label called Elle B which was suiting diffusion line that Sportsgirl ran in the nineties. It was all made in Australia of very fine fabrics and was surprisingly well priced. Unheard of these days. Anyhow, perfect for work, weddings, funerals, races. $8.75
Floral skirt is vintage Miss Selfridges and has a lovely ruching detail on the hip that because of the print is virtually impossible to capture on film. It was reduced for no apparently reason to $2.75. I didn't ask, I just bought.
Patent bag was $5.

My normal high res camera is being repaired so these were taken using s 3.2 mega pixel camera and lots of flash. Please forgive me!

A little bit of rock and roll

It has been so hot here lately that I was so uncomfortable in jeans when I was out the other day that my lovely friend lent me this skirt to wear. Isn't it adorable? I don't know how I'm going to part with it.Sigh......

Hhhhmmm

I love my new grey bag, its from Geya in Flinders Lane. I was told the leather would distress even further as I wear it so I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks, even in a months time.
As with the jacket in the previous post, I'm thinking about getting rid of this coat as well, but now I've put it on I'm not sure. What do you think?

L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week: Day 3

So its still hot in Melbourne, you couldn't possibly wear this during the day. Night perhaps.
As it is I'm thinking about getting rid of this jacket. Its lovely soft kid leather, very comfy but I never wear it. Picked it up in mint condition at Savers and it has never left my wardrobe!
