Come with me....

Enough of the silliness.....

Let's get back to what this blog is all about shall we?!
Thrilled you all like my little escapade with the garbage bag, it was a lot of fun indeed.
I took these photos originally to show you this beautiful dress, which has been featured on these pages before.
The more pictures I took, the more I realised the direction I was heading in subconsciously. Despite it's lovely colours, the photos all evoked old Hollywood glamour, which really is what I wish I could look like every day of the week, coupled with the fact that I love photos with a film like quality. Not the first, or second time I have attempted these kinds of shots as you can see.

I believe it also has to do with the fact that I have a vivid imagination and strong sense of aesthetics, meaning I try to create beautiful surroundings for myself and the little world I inhabit.
This blog is completely, independently created and run by me, Lady Melbourne. From the graphics, lighting and clothes to the makeup and all the photos that I take myself- it is all a creation of what I see around me every day, and a reflection of the world I want to live in.
I know I couldn't be the only one out there who might be grown up but still lives like Alice through the looking glass?

I was convinced that you had never pictured this dress before and then when the photos loaded I instantly remembered. I much prefer it in black and white of course! ;)

You need to be famous.

I love that you create a beautiful little world for yourself, and that you let others peek into that world. I work in an office. As an accountant, no less. My life could easily be devoid of magic if I let it. But why on earth would I?

At night before bed I read Isobelle Carmody children's novels with velvet covers, Enid Blyton's tales of a Faraway Tree, and Graeme Base masterpieces.

In the mornings I take my time illuminating my face with pretty potions and powders, enjoying the simple artistry of it all.

At lunchtime I seek out the lush, sun-filled courtyard of a heritage sandstone cathedral tucked in an out-of-the-way nook of the CBD.

Whenever I walk the streets, dodging my fellow corporate slaves, I remind myself to look up; at the cornflower blue sky, rustling emerald leaves of brave city trees and the glittering gold of sun on skyscrapers.

And during stolen moments at work I get my fill of glamour and grace from a certain Lady of cyber space.

Thank you for making the world a more beautiful place to be in. It's important work. :-)

What touching and delightful writing Sara, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me.
When ever I'm in the city I always make a point of looking up, you are instantly removed from your surroundings to a different place.
Despite your corporate surroundings you sound ever so creative and thats the main thing.

My gosh, your hair is fabulous! The frock is lovely too, but I am completely blown away by how wonderful your hair looks. I wish I could do that...instead of my usual tug on a beret and hope for the best.

Splendid lady M, simply splendid.

Your Alice-esque Blog is an inspiration and a joy; and I look forward to the day that I to can be a propper grown up with martinis and servants and as polished a look as you have.

I really like the pictures--you look so lovely in them! My blog (and world) idea is similar to yours: I like to find the beautiful in the mundane. I want to take things people look at every day and don't appreciate and make them take a second look. ^_^

The dress is beautiful and I'm deeply fond of the way you evokes old Hollywood glamour. And be sure that you're not the only grown up still living like Alice. Visiting you is an every day delight.

I love to visit your blog and steal a bit of your Looking Glass land to take away with me. What Sara said was amazing, I wish I'd said that!

Beauty in all aspects of my life is extremely important to me also.
With a little effort, creativity and imagination you can give your life a little glamour, so why not?!

And I too make a point of looking up at the sky regularily :)

You look so glam here. You belong on a movie set! Gorgeous photos.
