Doing it yourself....Happy Friday

So one day the mafia and I were at Savers, and I spied the sleeves of this size HUMONGOUS dress peeking out from one of the racks.
I loved it, or rather, I loved the sleeves.
I put the tent on and spent the next 10 minutes debating whether it was worth converting or not. I felt like I could hide me, the pup, the drinks cabinet and the mafia under there- it was huge. Although the thought of that tickles me, how funny would it be to have a party under a huge dress!
I digress, in the end I bought it and it has sat in my sewing bag for a good two months. The maids wouldn't touch it, it's synthetic and they said the mere smell of it screamed 'common.'

However, I don't like it when I get told I can't have something, that won't work, it'll never happen.
Behold, the finished product:

See how happy I am that I managed to mend this?

The flower is a corsage I'm working on as a commission for a client, I love it so much that I think I need one for myself.
Dress that was a tent: Savers
Heels: Guillame Hinfray
Ring: Mouche
Corsage: Made by me.Happy Friday everyone!

Hooray! First to comment!!!

What a fantastic job you have done with this dress, it looks positively wonderful on you.

Sidenote: You should have the maids flogged for that sort of insolence! Lady M, common?

I THINK NOT!!!

Stunning!!! Wow you really know your way around a needle and thread girl. No complaints from me about monochrome outfits if this is how amazing it can look - love the flower accessory too! xx

More fantastic alterations success! I have occasionally salvaged a size bazillion dress, somehow it is actually easier for me to do that than successfully alter a dress which is only a couple of sizes too big - maybe because you have to get a little bit creative with the humongous frocks?

PS.Thank you for the lovely link, have returned the favour.

Yay! You are standing up! Seriously a girl with legs like yours should be standing up in short dresses ALL the time!!!

I'm completely floored by your efforts here - wonderful!. Now you are going to have me looking in the Plus sized section for garments with magnificent sleeves - problem is... I don't know how to sew!!!

I love the red rose + red lippie... BEAUTIFUL!

Have a nice weekend.

I love the picture of you in the massive dress. You look like a kid dressed up in her mother's clothing.

And also fantastic work! The dress is a knockout.

I have my mother to thank for my sewing skills, she taught me everything I know, I have no formal training to speak of.

Wow you are way to adorable for words! But anyway, WOW! What a transformation, you really did an exceptional job of restitching that dress. It looks absolutely divine! I wish I was so skilled at the machine (makes a mental note to become proficient at sewing asap!). Wow! I even quite like the original (if it wasnt so tent huge!) Reminds me of Gail Sorronda. The corsage works perfectly.

Well done. Looks great. Was just pointed to your blog through a fellow blogger. I love that you're refashioning these outfits. I do likewise with fodder from my local op shops. Last one was a great pink fluoro velvet number that I took 73cm off the hem and cut off the melodramatic chiffon sleeves pasted - yes pasted, with glue - on to the bell shaped ones that were supposed to be there. Bless you. So pleased to meet you.
