Emerald Eyes

Why hello there!
I decided to have a little break over the weekend, I probably should have mentioned it but felt like sneaking out for a while, similar to when I was sixteen and told Mother Melbourne I was
at Sarah Batton's house but I was really....

This dress needs some minor alterations, but you get the general idea of it's shape and fit. I like the peplum pleats around the waist, it's a 1940s come 1980s come Chanel take on a little black dress and perfect for winter. It's not winter, its going to be 32c tomorrow but I live in hope for cooler days and the chance to accessorise with abandon!
I found these strands of beads at Savers and made them into this thick rope style necklace, the idea was that I would wear them against the dress.
Speaking of Savers they had 50% off all clothing today, did anyone brave the crowds? It's busy enough on a good day, I was tempted but didn't feel like queuing.

Oh my oh my! That dress! Those beads! Lady M you spoil us with such an ensemble.

I really love what you have done with the beads- they're a very fresh take on the whole beaded trend - The whole ensemble is very Chanel meets the latest Armani Pirvae collection.

Naturally I love it.

The dress is spectacular - I love it.

I really love the waist detail. Karen Walker in NZ has some gorgeous dresses with exactly this sort of waist frill. And I think we all get what you're hinting at. Oh the lies I used to tell ;)

OH MY GOD, that is the most perfect little black winter dress I have ever seen.
I know what you mean, tomorrow will be 30c here and I am not liking this hot weather at all. My wardrobe is screaming WINTER!

Gorgeous! I've lately been quite smitten with the idea of peplums; either on jackets, dresses or skirts. The 30s and 40s are full of such wonderful inspiration for that style. You look stunning in that dress--and I love the pop of color the beads add! :)

The dress is just glorious, and the pale green beads a perfect complement.

The peplum pleats are amazing and accentuate your waist. Cannot believe that the first shown pattern is from their easy line. I have something for you in my blog. Please check it.

I have been watching House of Eliott (half way through Series II at the moment - Evie, what are you thinking). Anyhoot, was marvelling at how '80s the frocks and lines were.
I was bidding on something similar to your dress on Ebay just recently. Also in black, with lace. I'm finicky and won't bid much on clothing. I have been burned before by not getting a good fit and being silly enough to not consider the work in altering my chosen piece. Handy that I, like you, can do the work, but time and cost and effort-wise, some pieces aren't worth it.
Beads are glorious. Have been having fun with op shop beads myself of late. So many good buys to post about.

Perfection!
And did you MAKE it?! My gosh, if you did...:)

That first shot is heaven. It reminds me of all those vintage silhouette pics.
Your figure is made for these looks - a classy bombshell! xxx
