My little Penguin

On Tuesday evening, I was invited by Penguin Australia to the launch of the next 50 titles in their Popular Penguin series.
I love reading so was thrilled with the invitation, plus, we all know I like a good cocktail so any excuse to combine the two is perfection in my eyes.
I digress, the Australian author Sonya Hartnett was there and gave a wonderful speech, her book 'Of a Boy' has been included in this round up of titles.

LM & Sonya Hartnett

This is the latest 'pile' to be added to the house, I still have another lot next to my bed that I am yet to have finished!

I love the look of the re-released Penguin books, I just want to have a whole row of them sitting on my bookshelf.
That white dress is divine!

It's nice to get invited to special events isn't it? I must say that I like what you chose to wear, it was very literature appropriate.
Black and white always looks divine. You could wear a white shopping bag (large of course, well you are dainty so a standard would probably fit) with your Camden market belt and you would look divine...bitch : )

I have 8 of those beautiful (and cheap!) little PPs. I really love the simple design of the cover.
I even stalked a few second hand bookstores in my area and managed to find 2 books in their original covers, and in pretty good condition!

Reading is my favorite form of total self indulgence. I was at home yesterday with a sniffle and spent the entire time reading. Heaven (well apart from the feeling unwell bit)!

I love the backwards bow belt on your white dress, what a great detail! Did you make it yourself?

Lastly, what kind of flowers are in that vase? They look a little like peony roses.

What a lovely event to recieve an invite to! I'm tres jealous my dear. You look splendid on both occasions, but the later is my favourite ensemble!

The books themselves are remarkably elegant! I love the orange colour, I think I may have to aquire a shelf of them...

Pretty!

I always end up buying old orange penguins in op-shops just because I love the look of them, but half the time I don't have any real desire to read the words inside those lovely covers. I'm a fiendish reader too, so it's a strange state of affairs - those covers are just too cool.

Oh LM -- I was there at the launch and surprised that I didn't recognise you there since I follow your blog. How yummy were the orange drinks and nibbles?

By the way, I love your bookcase -- I've got mine sorted by colour as well and it was nice to add the orange spines. Anyway, keep up the lovely work. Kate
