Patricia Fields for Myer: To stay or go

A very good friend of mine gave me this Patricia Fields for Myer dress to photograph for the blog, because she can't decide whether or not to keep it.
I love it, but I don't wear green as a rule so it won't be making itself at home in my wardrobe.

She was wondering how to style it, I've obviously put a Lady Melbourne spin on things, but if you have your own ideas do let me know!

Love the dress, KEEP for sure!
It's such a "look at me" pattern and colour I think I would wear it with all black. Black blazer (sharply cut to contrast the dress) possibly with big lapels(also to contrast the neckline), the belt, cuff and clutch would stay, but maybe with my Loub Mad Marys? Or equally 'Carrie' shoes.

I LOVE IT. I think it would look gorgeous with a clashing print jacket or blazer, and chunky black ankle booties. Obvious reference would be Carrie in SATC movie.

KEEP IT! it's amazing!
first outfit that came to mind was something very 'carrie'- big floral corsage and studded shoes.
but i can see it with over the knee boots (oooh if only you had the rodarte ones) and elbow length gloves.

It's a shame you don't wear green - I think it really suits you!

I approve of the wide belt and like the dress but there seems an awful lot of it. Is it too big for you? The sleeves look a bit big and loose, I would perhaps roll or push them up a little? That might sound like sacrilege but it's just an idea. The rest of it is good.

By the way, I really love you in that trench coat. You could wear a potato sack under it and look great.

I would also keep it. I nearly bought the same fabric and still look for the perfect pattern sheet to sew. Your dress gave me a good inspiration.

Love it love it love it, I agree with the comments already made about how to jazz it up, maybe put the belt over the top of a black jacket/blazer, knee high black boots would also look great with it.

What? Green seems to work pretty well for you! It's definitely a keeper. I would wear it similarly with a thin black belt and strappy black heels.

As a general rule I hate the Patricia Fields for Myer collection, but that dress looks amazing! And what do you mean you never wear green? It looks lovely on you.
