Garbage bag chic

It all began with this gentle readers.....

And ended with this....

That's right, you have logged on today to find Lady Melbourne wearing a garbage and her Chanel. I didn't wear all of it, what with the wonderment of black plastic I didn't want to over do things.
You see there was so much to choose from when I went down to my local supermarket, I could have even bought silver bags which made my decision very hard- how's a girl to decide between a cool, slate grey and a hot, shiny black?
I figured also if I got one with a drawstring closure I could do all sorts of things with the hem. Note the nice ruching detail over derriere area, complete with uneven hemline.

I have Imelda my favourite despot to thank for the inspiration, without her challenges I'd just sit around on my couch all day taking photos and getting stuck into the martinis.

Get yours now at your local Safeway for $3.09. All you'll need is some scissors and a bit of flair. And a despot to create hilarious challenges for you of course.

The Despot bows down before the alter of Lady Melbourne! Not since Jeanie Little turned up to the Logies has a garbage bag looked so damn HOT!

This will go down in blogging history as the best-post-ever!

OMG - this is genius. Honestly, if you made me one of those I'd wear it to work! The hem is awesome. And the fit is chic?!?!

Sorry I didn't notify you about the tag. It appears that that was the part of the rules I totally forgot about.

Unbelievably good post.

Dear Lady Melbourne,
Mrs Imelda M sent me your way this morning with "You must check out Lady Melbourne’s hilarious post".

She was right. It's not only funny but you've done a really great job of making the garbage bag NOT look like one...almost haute couture. The drawstring version is a good choice.

I guess Mrs M's next challenge should be for you to wear it out.

The despot will have to eat it now!

Imelda- I did think of Jeanie Little when I was taking the pictures, I wanted to cry out 'Hello Darlings!' but it just wasn't going to be captured in a photograph!
K.Line- no problemo about the tag. The fit is totally accidental, I litterally cut out the neckline, arm holes and put it over my head.
Likkle girl- That I will have to seriously consider, it is the middle of winter here and with nothing but a garbage bag to keep me warm I fear the results!
I'm glad you find it hilarious though, Imelda has a wicked sense of humour.
Enc- She might, but now the stakes have risen I can only imagine what she will come up with next.

She has, hasn't she?! She makes my day, everyday.

How about a big fat fur coat over it? The bag-lady-who-used-to-be-a-rich-bitch-and-now-only-have-this-fur-coat-to-show look.

Or we can wait till it's summer...

If I ever saw you in the streets of Melboure (which, now that I have found your blog, I'll be watching out for a well dressed lady like yourself), I would start screaming and frolicking up and down until you realised.

Going through your blog, I'm amazed that such style actually exists around here.

It actually looks like one of those 'wet look' items that all of the designers are flogging - but wat better!

Are you wearing falsies, or are they your natural lashes? Beautiful eyes.
