It's Autumn/Winter in my head...

We're going through that wonderful period in Autumn, when the season just doesn't know what to do with itself.

Will the heavens open today, or will the sun shine?

A little bit of both today.

I was hoping to see a lot more capelets at fashion week, but alas they didn't seem to be on the radar at many of the shows.
I'm also on the lookout for over the knee boots and cherry red belts. Specific? Yes!
So fellow Melbournites if you seen any you think you couldn't live without do share your find with me.

On an entirely unrelated matter, whilst browsing through the Myer accessories department today, I noticed that the majority of bags were made out of pleather or synthetic materials.
Once upon a time, such bags would sit at around the $50 mark because, well, they weren't leather.
I saw a synthetic bag on sale today for $189. Am I crazy, but when did this trend to pay almost $200 for a vinyl bag begin?!
Lucky I had a lie down yesterday!
Wool capelet: A little store in Harndorf, Adelaide that was closing down last year
Blouse: Carla Zampatti
Skirt: Savers....I think!
Boots: Primark
Socks: They belong to his Lordship but don't tell him because he doesn't like it when I borrow his clothes.....I just said that out loud didn't I? Damn.
Jewellery: Diva
Umbrella: For the life of me I cannot remember, I've had it that long. But I see similar ones around the place all the time, I don't think it could be too hard to find.

I love capes, bought a lovely blue one with fur while holidaying in China. And I also saw lots of over the knee boots in China. Sorry I know that's not helping...

Oh and I would never, ever, ever buy a synthetic/pleather bag for over $50, I mean you could buy a delightful, vintage, REAL LEATHER one for less than $40 (you just have to know where to look.

Yes,yes the lie down is a good idea.

It's winter in my head too!
Oh the cape is gorgeous. I wish I could pull off the cape look, I think though because i'm short it makes me look ball-esque.

And re:synthetic bags for $189 that is CRAZY!!!

I have seen some bloggers wearing thrifted sheer skirts over their heads as make-shirt capelets ;) I think, Lady M, you may be a little too sophisticated for that. Tehehe. But then - you did wear a rubbish bag dress once so I may be speaking out of turn.

i adore the jewelry and you rock the capelet! :)

Wow, that DOES seem a bit steep for a synthetic bag! I wonder why the jump in price ...

Beautiful ring and cuff!

I agree, I find that especially when perusing ASOS.com that most cool bags are fake leather and very expensive. Only one brand I think can afford to be expensive with their fake leather and that's Mat & Nat. I have their vegan bags (though not vegan myself) and they are VERY close to being leather, they don't look fake at all and have amazing colour and detail. That's the exception though....

Hi LM! Lovely outfit today as always. Just wondered - is the town where you got the cape in SA called "Hahndorf"? I haven't heard of Harndorf but Hahndorf is commonly misspelled (and mispronounced lol).

Anyway bring on the capelets!

I found quite an abundance of caplets at Hob Knob in Sassafras. I also saw a few fake fur caplets at a store ( I can't remember its name darn it!)next to Clear It on Brunswick st.
I love the socks and have wanted to wear short sock for a while now, but I haven't had the confidence to so so! I managed an over the knee pair and felt like mutton dressed up as lamb.
I love the short sock look and they look great with your heeled brogues!

Cute outfit!
Your nails always look so lovely. I wish I could say the same. I'm too lazy, I guess.

I think that is a positive thing that you are finding more expensive "fake" leather goods.

Synthetic is not a dirty word, is a much more humane and environment friendly option (I know that producing synthetic is harsh on the environment, but rasing cattle is far far worse) if brands are using great quality synthetic it can be as soft and lovely as the real thing - and of very high quality.

You have actually gotten me excited! I'm sick of all the cheap $50 synthetic crap, I just hope that the jump in price reflects a higher quality too.

Oh you look a treat LM.
I love the socks!
What kind of over the knee boots? Flat or high?
I know New York sported this look last winter season and I have seen a few pairs floating around :)

Hello Lady Melbourne
Where is it that you studied whilst in University? I am currently in year twelve and deciding what pathway I should follow and am quite influenced by your work and photography.

Thanks!

I totally understand about the fake leather thing. It's really getting to me...only a couple of years ago I bought a BEAUTIFUL cherry red leather bag from Witchery for $130. Now that same bag I am sure would be upwards of $220.

And everything else is synthetic. Is it really unreasonable to want a good quality LEATHER bag for around $250 or less? The synthetic ones are all around the $100 mark. Its really annoying.

The fact that these synthetic (plastic!) bags are for sale at this price means there must be a market for them. Even lovely leather bags can be found cheaper than pleather!

YES! They're doing it with shoes too... it's such a repetitive rant of mine. Synthetic shoes are now around $100 when I remember buying beautiful quality leather upper/lined shoes for $89 a few years ago.

It makes me sick to the stomach!

PorecelainBlonde's blog has been down for a few hours - "removed."

Any ideas what's going on?
