What should Lady Melbourne wear to the tennis?

Outfit 1: Sun dress
Outfit 2: Skirt
Outfit 3: Shorts
I've been invited to the tennis this week and I have no idea what to wear. In that, of course I know that what ever I wear will be ok, but I'm not sure whether it's super casual or whether they expect a little more from the general public. I would assume not from what I see on the TV, but I thought I'd throw it over to you guys to help me out.
I've been told these are essential:
A hat
Flat shoes
Comfortable
Cool(as in temperature)
So I thought it comes down to these three, or outfits like them. If you come up with something better then I am open to all ideas!

I'd suggest the sun dress - it looks elegant, the accessories are quirky and it looks fab with your red nails. Everything I'd expect from Lady Melbourne.

BTW I always read but rarely post, let me just say how much I ADORE your blog. You are my personal style icon :-)

hmm i prefer the shorts but maybe the dress is more 'safe'. i wouldn't go for the skirt, don't know why, it's just a feeling.
well darling, you'll look gorgeous anyway so what the hell ;)

I would opt for the shorts or which is the most comfortable. After going to the Hopman a few years in a row I found that with all the sitting so high up and in the sun you want to wear something that no-one can see up, and that you won't feel too hot or uncomfy in.
I'm sure you'll be fine with any of those though!

I vote for outfit number 3 - the shorts outfit. I think this way you will be comfortable and cool but you still look nice.

I like outfit 1.

It's been chilly, so don't forget a cardi!

I also like the shorts, they look great with that top and will be comfortable and appropriate for the tennis. Have a great time!

i'd say the dress and the top is cute with the shorts :)

i like outfit 3 best ! i think its such a cute outfit for the tennis !

My vote is for number 3, the shorts!

I denfinetely vote for outfit 1. Elegant yet cool thanks to that pretty hat and those flats.

I would definitely go the shorts, very cute and practical look!

As a serious tennis aficionado I have to say outfit three, the shorts. The top two are lovely if you plan on only drinking Pimms and eating strawberries in a vip section (imagining you are in Wimbledon) but if you are planning on actually watching the tennis the shorts are more practical. Unless you want to worry about flashing the people in front of you the whole match!

Lily said...

Hahaha I think the people sitting behind you might also like to see the tennis... so I suggest you don't wear that hat!

Silverbeige said...

I think the first is more unique, simply elegant! The less is more an let your presence as your label LM! ... this fact with your third outfit to some extent could not prevail.
I would also bring a big scarf with me to shelter arms from the sun and wear it only when sitting during the play.
Share your final choice with us and enjoy the event!

I think the last outfit is great! Definitely need to wear sandals to keep cool! So jealous that you get to go and watch the tennis, the games are going to be epic!

shorts! always the comfortable choice.. :)

The shorts, definitely you look super cool, comfy and adorable. If you need to glam up in a hurry bring big hoop earrings and red lipstick. ;)

All your outfits are great! I'd go for outfit #1 because i think it's a bit better to be overdressed than underdressed, but you really can't go wrong with any of your options.

I have no idea either. I love number 3 though. x

Esther Burns said...

I would say shorts. They all look great but shorts are more practical and cute!

I agree with the majority - definately outfit number 3 - it's summery, comfortable, cute, and something that seems very "tennis-y"

oo and have heaps of fun at the tennis! =D

I like outfit three too, although think outfit three changing out the shorts for your circle skirt in two would also look cute (and provide more cover for your legs since you seem to prefer to cover up form the sun!).

Lost In Laneways said...

Oh I was there last night too. I went pretty casual, it is not very fancy in general admission...

Krista said...

The dress and whole outfit in number one is gorgeous but I wouldn't wear it to the tennis, I vote number 3 as well!

Esta said...

I would definitely wear the shorts (outfit 3). Its perfect for a day at the tennis!

Lady Melbourne said...

Woah- thanks guys! I had no idea I'd get so many brilliant suggestions!

Julie said...

It's the shorts for me. Casual and comfortable, yet chic.

100% the shorts. ...Though from a practical point of view maybe the skirt? It's longer, which means your legs wont do that awful sticky thing when they velcro themselves onto the plastic chair. Sunny day + plastic chair + shorts? Hmm...

ok, the skirt, 100%...

It's a tie between 1 and 3.

Flit About said...

It's a tie between 1 and 3 for me as well. If it is a hot day, though I would go for outfit three as the top is wider and that feels cooler in the heat. Whatever you choose, remember heaps of sunscreen, and aerosol if it's at night:)
Have fun!

You shouldn't go at ALL without my giant SmacEnroe tennis necklace. It's a key accessory! :-)

Eileen Chong said...

shorts! and lots of sunscreen. i was invited on a boat at the Australia Day ferry races at Sydney Harbour and opted for shorts, and was very pleased as it really was the most appropriate outfit, even though there were some women in tight dresses and heels (?!).

Kellie said...

I love all of them, but I think the first outfit is my favorite! You look so pretty! :)

Chelley Q said...

You look good in all three but best in the 3rd one. It's the most 'tennis-sy'. Have fun!

The shorts is definitely more tennis-y

I am voting for the cute little shorts number. Casual and cool without bowing to our seemingly national footwear of thongs any time it gets remotely warm. I love the hat, it could go to the tennis on its own - it is a celebrity. I can also suggest popping a little folded fan in your bag; much more elegant than waving tennis promotional material in your face with the added bonus of immediately making you look coy in pictures. Which is much more desirable than looking like a sweaty mess. Enjoy!

What ever you do have your knees covered. One of my clients came in today (she apologised for looking 'a little bit pink' the dear!) with knees the brightest shade of red I've ever seen human knees can be!

I vote shorts. All the outfits are fab (especiially the sun dress!) but I think shorts would be more suitable.

Mel said...

Wear the circle skirt because that way your legs won't get burnt from sitting in the sun all day!

Honestly, nobody will even be looking at your outfit… but they'll totally point and laugh if your thighs turn into sunburnt hams!

I love you wearing hat LM!
