Quintessential Paris....

I couldn't come to this city and not go to Chanel, it would be like going to Rome and not seeing the Colosseum or visiting New York and not seeing the Empire State Building.
Because you see to me, Chanel at 31 Rue Cambon is a landmark of Paris, being the flagship Chanel store and the building housing Gabrielle Chanel's private apartments.
As she is lauded with revolutionising the way women dressed in the first half of the 20th century it is somewhere I think is worth a visit to get a sense of what shopping and fashion is like in Paris.
Plus, you all know I love Chanel!I only picked up a few accessories, every time I come to Paris I buy a little something from the shop so I have a souvenir to take away with me.

We then headed back to St Germain where we are staying and cosied into a little bar for a bowl of soup and a glass or three of wine. Perfect day in Paris.
I am off tomorrow to the Marche aux Puces de St Quen which my little pocket guide tells me is the largest flea market in Europe, housing 2500 stalls. That is like shopping Mecca as far as I'm concerned so if I go missing for a while it's safe to say I will probably be lost amongst Parisienne vintage clothes.....no need for a search party, I'll be fine......

Hello.
You're right. The best souvenir from Paris is something from Chanel and for me, from the very first Chanel boutique. Is amazing open one of those boxes, with camelias in Chanel No. 5.
Bye.

hahaha, will you really be fine? I would have thought you would hate being lost in Parisian vintage stores!! :P

I love your tradition with the chanel boutique. "Souvenir" is the french verb for "to remember", so your tradition is so apt! what a perfect way to remember your trips!

(I did my french HSC exam today... :P)

Best of wishes for your stay in Paris, it really is magical!

Lady M, I love that you wore a dress from Target to visit Chanel!

Very chic you look too: it speaks volumes for your confidence that you would walk through the door in a dress that was not from one of the great design houses of the world and still look amazing!

Oooh, your Chanel purchases are divine, and you look absolutely chic and gorgeous! I kind of regret not visiting any of the designer stores when I was in Paris, but as I was getting around in my school slicker, ripped and faded jeans and grubby runners it was probably for the best...

Beautiful purchases and pictures! I'm so very jealous! I am kicking myself not getting anything from Chanel when I was in Paris last year!

Whilst in Paris, I highly recommend visiting the Dries Van Noten store in Marais, it is just out-of-this world gorgeous! ;)

Enjoy Paris, dear. So sad we can't meet. Compared to trillions of kilometers to Melbourne Paris seems just around the corner... Kisses.
