Where the wild things grow...

I live in a very old part of Melbourne, but don't equate that with old money, old families or anything of that nature.
The suburb was established about 1840, which means that there are many of these blue stone lane ways still in tact, and still being used.
Although many of the original Victorian facades have disappeared over the years, the lane ways remain as a reminder of a time gone by.
I thought I'd tell you about it, specially for overseas readers because no doubt some of you must wonder, 'What the hell is she doing in that lane way?!'
The history, and old, rambling feel make a wonderful back drop, specially when inner city, there isn't always a different century worth of inspiration just outside your door.

And finally the weather has dropped down a few degrees which has meant I can start pulling out some of my favourite Autumn dresses.
I bought this dress on eBay from a vintage seller last year and I love, love, love it!
Dress: eBay
Trench: Zara(most recent trip last year)
Heels: Tony Bianco
Bag: A little market in Hong Kong
Corsage: Chanel

Very elegant indeed Lady M. It's nice to hear a little of the history of the area in this post, but mostly I'm amazed at your photography skills.

You're using some sort of black magic, aren't you???

Ah yes old laneways, they take you to another time... There is a suburb in Sydney that really makes you feel like you have been taken to another era. Would love to live there one day.

I adore the dress... what a wonderful ebay find!
The shoes are tres sexy!

Ugh so jealous, I wish I lived in the inner city. I'm out in the boring suburbs and I hate it. The moment I'm in a fiscal position to move I will be out of here so fast!

Beautiful outfit today LM! xx

Perfect outfit in a perfect surrounding.

I so much love old fashioned stuff, whatever it might be ( art, buildings, fashion....). Everything that has a story to tell. For this reason it is so interesting to live in Europe.

i live in the inner city and we have old lane ways in our area too! lots of them have teeny tiny houses in them.
it makes going for a walk after work really enjoyable to look at all the old houses and go down the lanes and think about what it would of been like so so long ago.
