Polka Dot Party

I had a party to attend last night and I was dying to bust out my Vivien dress again, even though it's starting to get cold here.
As a result of my partying ways I slept most of today, too much rock & roll for me!

Cardigan: Market in Florence
Shoes: Vintage- I've had them since I was 17 and wore them to my first school formal.

One Week of Pussy Bows: Friday

I a little bit(kind of a lot) late with my Friday post but somewhere in the world it is Friday.
Hooray, I've made it through one week of pussy bow blouses!
I thought I'd present something a little more casual and soft today, this is an outfit I would wear, but I don't normally put more casual outfits on the blog. Funny that.
Anyhow, hope you had/have a fabulous Friday!

One Week of Pussy Bows: Thursday

It rained most of today so I'm trying to get creative indoors. I wanted to take some pictures in the rain but I wouldn't subject my beloved camera to that!
I'm four days into my week of pussy bow blouses, and so far most of the looks I've presented have been quite lady like. I hope I can provide something a little more casual tomorrow.

One Week of Pussy Bows: Wednesday

I've had this blouse for years and years. I take extra good care of it these days for fear that it will fall apart in the wash one day, or get caught and snagged on some random sharp object.
I don't have it done up, but you can see the bow none the less.
These are men's pants that I found in Savers when helping a friend shop for a fancy dress costume for her husband. I liked the weave and colours and didn't think they would fit me at first.
I like the wide leg, skinny everything rules the streets of Melbourne at the moment, these took me back to very early Chanel.
Love,
LM

One Week of Pussy Bow Blouses: Tuesday

Mother Melbourne bought me this beautiful silk blouse for Christmas a couple of years ago, and although I tend to dress it down it does look lovely with a suit as well.
Come to think of it, she bought the suit for me as well!

Dark Arts

Aside from all my accessories, everything I'm wearing today is second hand and I feel so happy about it because I picked up a few compliments on this outfit if I do say so myself!
I think, in fact I know, that some people think I spend a fortune on clothes, but I don't- I just shop hard for bargains.
On I Op Therefore I Am they tell us 5 good reasons to shop second hand:
save money
contribute to charity
live sustainably
find treasure
be unique...
and I couldn't agree more. If you want a comprehensive guide to op-shopping in Melbourne that site is it.
Happy Friday and happy shopping!

Blouse: David Jones brand, Savers

My new 'old' dress

I bought this dress yesterday for $35. The gal that sold it to me said she'd worn it once, it's a De Cuba dress and still had the price tag attached- $299.
I like it with the black(and my new bag!), I think it makes it pop. So does my glow in the dark skin but there ain't much I can do about that! Fake tans- ewe!
Dress: Vintage clothes market at Bowen St on RMIT campus, City
Boots: Primark
Bag: Charity Shop
Sunnies: Scarlet & Sly
p.s- Don't forget the product call for the next issue of Fashion Journal- I know you designers are out there!

Is your label like Luella?Lady Melbourne needs you!

For the next issue of Fashion Journal I am working on a page for Spring trends. At the moment I'm working with a theme similar to what Luella showed for their S/S 2009 show.
FJ has a circulation of 35 000 nationally every issue with a demographic aimed at 16-25 year olds.

If you think your label fits with the theme, send me a little email and I will duly reply with a product call out email with what is required.

Australian labels are preferred please!

I'm thinking gloves, netting, Chanel style jackets(hello!), shorts, chunky heels, anything black, lilac, orange or neutral. Nice big chunky beads, the pictures should say it all!
Muchos grazias friends!

Finders Keepers

This morning on my way into town, I missed my train. Normally this would be regarded as an inconvenience but I was running early as it had it, so I popped into the near by op-shop and found all of the above.
I do believe it was meant to be!
The entire lot cost me $17 and I'm thrilled because I've been looking for a red belt, cherry red at that.

Skirt: Hhhhhmmm, Savers I think
Shirt: Country Road
Cashmere cardigan: from a market in Florence
Heels: Salvos

Goodbye my heart....

I can't remember where exactly I first saw the inspiration for this jumper, in 'Frankie' perhaps. There is a British label, LauraLaura, that produces hand stitched sayings onto second hand jumpers- brilliant.
I would shop up a storm on their website but the Aussie dollar isn't worth the plastic it's printed on at the moment so I found myself wanting a jumper but it being a little out of my reach.

His Lordship decided this jumper was going to charity because of a tiny hole on the shoulder(easily darned but he wasn't interested in such domestic matters) so I quickly appropriated it into my wardrobe and embroidered it myself.

'Adieu mon Coeur' is an Edith Piaf song, any Piaf fans out there?

Happy Friday

This curious show reel landed in my mail-box this week, and I must confess I was expecting something to do with cocktails but not this.
Smirnoff have launched a rather savvy new PR campaign in which they claim to be re-inventing the 'Mule,' a drink that was born on Sunset Boulevard in the heyday of Tinseltown.
The campaign centers around Los Angeles in the 1940s with the site set as a film noir detective story. Fast cars, dames and shadowy thugs- I dressed the part.
I found these cute ad's from the 1960's with Woody Allen promoting the drink.

I also have lovely new chrysthanemums and carnations for the weekend, I love chrysthanemums especially. Colours are so lovely for autumn.

Happy Friday!
