Patricia Fields for Myer: To stay or go

A very good friend of mine gave me this Patricia Fields for Myer dress to photograph for the blog, because she can't decide whether or not to keep it.
I love it, but I don't wear green as a rule so it won't be making itself at home in my wardrobe.

She was wondering how to style it, I've obviously put a Lady Melbourne spin on things, but if you have your own ideas do let me know!

I want that

As promised, here are my latest purchases from Ebony M, on sale for 50% off. I used my fashion logic and bought two pairs because when you are given a discount like that it's not the saving that counts, it's the fact that you can buy two pairs. Somewhere, my accountant just choked on his pen tip.

I've got ballet flats sorted for my new snake skin bag, so these heels were the perfect horizontal addition. Not too matchy-matchy but the right colour tone which I like.

The dress is from(take a deep breath) Suzanne Grae. It's ok to breath again.
I've told you all lately I've started to shop at Sussan again, but Suzanne Grae was one Nanna shop I would not even blink at walking past.
Perhaps that's why they put this little number front and center so that gals like me(read occasional fashion snobs) would sit up and take notice. I'm going to do a couple of posts with different ways to wear it, similar to the Patricia Fields for Myer dress.

Phew, bumper post!

Happy Friday!

Sex and The City plays on Foxtel here in Australia continuously and lately they've been showing series 3 and 4 which are my favourites, along with the end of series 6(Carries clothes in Paris!).
In series 3 and 4 Carrie starts to wear more vintage, floral dresses and of course the flower corsage.
I was going to keep this dress to sell at the next Round She Goes market, but after watching an episode the other night where she is wearing a mauve, floral, vintage dress with huge gold belt I felt so inspired I decided to alter the dress and keep it.
I tried in vain to locate a picture of the dress but no matter how many SATC references I typed into google it turned up nix. I think I've narrowed it down to series 3, episode 37, 'Drama Queens.' If you know what I'm talking about leave a comment!
What I did discover however is the influence Patricia Fields and Carrie's wardrobe still holds, more than 10 years after the show began.
This is what my dress used to look like, I've lowered the neckline and taken the hem up. I might get sick of it which is not unusual for me(!), but as Spring has arrived in Melbourne it's sitting very pretty in my wardrobe.
Dress: Savers, $12. Read it and weep.
Leather heels: DFO Tony Bianco outlet
Necklace worn as belt: Vintage Chanel
Earrings: London market
Bracelet: Diva

And again.....

Ok folks, I don't usually do the same outfit two days in a row, but I am beginning to enjoy this little experiment.
I would normally shy well away(as in, the store wouldn't even get a look in if I saw it in the window) from loud colours and patterns like this, but strangely(perhaps due to shock) when I wore it today the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.
I took Kat George's advice and wore it with boots, kept the trench but lightened it with traditional Lady M black and white. Can I do it three days in a row? Hhhhmmmmm.....
From the bottom up:
Boots: Primark
Tights: Wicked by Kolotex
Skirt: Episode
Belt: Sportsgirl
Sweater: Sportsgirl
Cuff: Chanel
Dress/Coat: Patricia Fields for Myer
Trench: Zara
