Lady Melbourne's new shoes

Like I need another pair but with Australian fashion week looming the bargain hunter got the better of me when I found these. For $80.
Yep, I was doing my usual stalking around DFO and found these Siren heels reduced from I think about $220 to $80, last pair in my size. That's good shoe karma for you.
The are the 'Geisha' heels and are from a couple of seasons ago hence the price, but I just found this seasons version (heavily reduced!) that unfortunately has two ugly straps across the front. You could always chop them off, or they may just tickle your fancy!

Black Out

I bought this dress in town at a rather non-descript shop and chopped off some rather ugly straps over the shoulder that is now strapless.
I love glossy, shiny eyes, but they are extremely hard to wear. I popped some Bobbi Brown lip gloss on top of my black, black lids and I love the effect, but it would never last a night out!

Don't forget that you have one more day to enter the Dreaming of Dior book give-away that ends tomorrow.

Head over Heels

The gals at Ebony M called me to say they had a very limited edition line of heels from London in the shop and would I like to come take a look. Would I what!!
Head over Heels are just divine, I didn't buy a pair ($379 a pop) but came very close to handing over the plastic. I only had my camera phone so please excuse the grainy pictures.

I want that

As promised, here are my latest purchases from Ebony M, on sale for 50% off. I used my fashion logic and bought two pairs because when you are given a discount like that it's not the saving that counts, it's the fact that you can buy two pairs. Somewhere, my accountant just choked on his pen tip.

I've got ballet flats sorted for my new snake skin bag, so these heels were the perfect horizontal addition. Not too matchy-matchy but the right colour tone which I like.

The dress is from(take a deep breath) Suzanne Grae. It's ok to breath again.
I've told you all lately I've started to shop at Sussan again, but Suzanne Grae was one Nanna shop I would not even blink at walking past.
Perhaps that's why they put this little number front and center so that gals like me(read occasional fashion snobs) would sit up and take notice. I'm going to do a couple of posts with different ways to wear it, similar to the Patricia Fields for Myer dress.

Phew, bumper post!

Pandemonium

Lady Melbourne: Hey, have you seen my new shoes?
His Lordship: No.
Lady Melbourne: Go and have a look, take them out of the box.
His Lordship: They look uncomfortable.
Lady Melbourne: No, trust me, they couldn’t possibly be.
His Lordship: Why is that? They don’t look very comfortable at all….
Lady Melbourne: Well, they’re really good quality, and they’re made in Italy, and it’s napa leather, and-
His Lordship: How much did they cost?
Lady Melbourne: Never mind.

These are my little reward for a bumper weekend at the Round She Goes vintage and second hand market at Camberwell Town Hall.
Hello to the gals that came up and said hello, it was lovely to meet you in living colour!
I did fashion markets years ago when I was involved with my accessories label so headed to this one with a somewhat superior idea of what to expect.

You know what they say about assumption right?

I had my fashion sense well and truly knocked into me within the first 10 minutes of being there- people were queued up outside to get in when the doors opened at 10am.
It was kind of like a sample sale, but for vintage and second hand- everything your heart desires under one roof and at extremely affordable prices.
The chaos remained most of the day but I can understand why, if I didn't have a stand myself I would have been out there in the midst of the crowds vying for a bargain too.

Guilty Pleasures

Last year I wanted some on trend shoes in a hurry and happened upon Urban Originals on eBay. I bought these two pairs of shoes and many of you emailed or left comments asking where on earth did I get them.
I don't normally buy cheap shoes, so it is somewhat of a guilty pleasure that once a year I buy a couple of pairs on eBay or from the U.O website.

These two pairs arrived in the mail today, I only purchased them last Friday so including the weekend they only took 4 days to get here from the states.
I didn't give the links last time as to where I had bought the shoes, but I'm over feeling embarrassed because so many people like them so here you go, shop with wild abandon!
Here and here.

Mr. Postman bring me a dream.....

I got a couple of packages in the mail today which always makes one happy.
Solestruck sent me these cute booties all the way from the States, but you can shop online here in Oz.
I think they'll look better skinny jeans, but as the weather is getting cooler they have arrived just in time. If you like this style you can buy them here, otherwise just check out the website.
Thank you Solestruck, they are super cute!

This little lizard creation was sent by my brother Lord Melbourne who lives in London. Apparently the man who made it is 72 and just makes them on order basis these days, but back in his hey day stocked to Harrods. He hand makes all his bags. Special.

That ol' black (and white) magic

Truly, it doesn't take much to set me off on a black and white escapade. I started the week with good intentions I swear it, but you know me, one black dress and it's all I need (see yesterdays post)
Still completely and utterly addicted to this gorgeous ring, at least I've changed my earrings.
You know whats so neat about trying this new hair style( you can't see it but today's is swept to the side in a chignon just under my ear), is that I've discovered how pretty bows, ribbons and scarves are as an addition.
And yes, that's a martini and for those of you who have an eye for detail you can read the clock....whats that look for?!

I made my dress, I fancied making my own dresses for a while and perhaps launching my own line, but I can't stop shopping. Perhaps one day, wouldn't it be wonderful to have your own shop full of wonderful things that you like. 'Lady Melbourne's Vintage Emporium' has a nice ring to it I think. Sigh......

Dress: Made by moi!
Shoes: eBay
Ring: Mouche
Earrings: Chanel
Ribbon: It was on a gift and I couldn't bear to part with it!

A bow

I have many ribbons I wear in my hair, on my wrists and sometimes on my bags, but it's only just occured to me that they might look quite fetching around my neck.
Benefits of shooting outside: the wind perfectly showcases a flirty skirt.
Skirt: a gift
Top: Ladahk
Shoes: I Love Billy

It's what you want

I met his Lordship for tea today at Laurent, and amongst other things he said to me while I nibbled at my Bordaloue tart, 'Darling, I think it's interesting where you go and that you get out of the house and don't just stand infront of a white wall all day, but other people don't. Please stop posting about your outings, it might effect your technorating.'
I was a little bothered by this, but then he presented me with a little trinket in a black and white box and lets just say everthing was smoothed over. You might be able to spot it in the picture below.
With that in mind however, I present to you an outfit. Or rather my outfit for the day.
Below is a more detailed shot of what I wore to last nights opening that no one wanted to read about.

I have a new man in my life.....

Guillaume Hinfray. Know him? I have known about his shoes for a while now but my normally extravagant budget when it comes to shoes and accessories didn't quite stretch as far as his front door.

When I stumbled upon these on sale I took it as a divine sign that the universe wanted them to be mine and promptly handed over my cash.

It's love readers, love!

For those of you that read other Australia blogs you may have worked out by now that there was a little outing yesterday for some of us locals, namely Imelda and Hayley and above was what I wore.

Ladylike it was, boring it was not- if you haven't already discovered these bloggers I encourage you to take a look as they all bring a very different and local point of view on Australian fashion.

If you would like to see more pictures take a look at Imelda or Hayley's pages.
