This shop was like stepping into back into my childhood, I couldn't believe that someone else out there has kept swap cards and Golden Books all these years- and now devoted a shop to it!!Sisters Mia and Kate own The Enchanted Closet, and if you visit Woodend which is about 50 minutes out of Melbourne you will not only be delighted by how charming they are, but the shop in itself is gorgeous.

Liquid Asset
Here are some shots of the Fler couch that is a new addition to the house hold. It needs to be re-upholstered but I couldn't help showing it off!The tea cup is one of three from the same estate sale as the Fler suite, it's a little bit worn, but it makes it all the more special in my eyes.

Another time...
I went to see 'The Golden Age of Couture' at the Bendigo Art Gallery yesterday and whether you have an interest in fashion or not, it's really impressive.So inspired was I, that I pulled out my most fancy dress, and one of my most prized pieces- my Karl Lagerfeld for H&M dress. I'd love to think that I could own just a straight out Karl Lagerfeld one day, but for now this lovely little number is good enough for me!

click-click, I get bigger....Sunday nights are for relaxing in my book, and I'm thrilled to be doing so on a new addition to the household, a Fler suite. Well, new to the house, but it's about 40 years old itself! The sofa will be seen in future posts but for this evening this is just a little look.
The Art Gallery of South Australia tells us:
'Scandinavian furniture was readily available in Australia, and magazines such as The Australian Furnishing Trade Journal, brought news and illustrations of contemporary Scandinavian design to Australian’s throughout the nineteen fifties. The Scandinavian ‘style’ was immediately embraced by Australian furniture manufacturing companies, who developed their own solid wood furniture with the‘hand-crafted’ appeal. New multi-spindle lathes meant the ‘hand-crafted’ could now be created mechanically for repetitive production. Fred Lowen furniture designer and founding partner of Fler Furniture, developed the popular SC55 and SC58 chairs (designed 1955-1958) and released the Narvik dining and lounge range in 1961. '

A friend of mine asked if I wanted to have a look at his grandfathers house who passed away earlier in the year. His parents were in the process of selling the entire contents of the house as they had a family home of their own with no where to put any of his furniture.
His house had been outfitted in the 1960's and the furniture had been lovingly cared for and beautifully preserved ever since.
I'm thrilled to be able to give the furniture a new home, like the clothes I buy from places like Clara Fox(see shopping directory for details) it is always lovely to hear the story behind something that is being passed on, and I love giving a new home, to something made long ago.
The decal on the wall is from a friend of mine and artist Ryan L Foote- you can guess why I love it.

You know I just realised that considering it's Friday, I don't look that happy!!I can assure you that I am, you all know it's my favourite day of the week. I got my hands on the snake bracelet and ring from Diva, ever since I saw it on Porcelain Blondes blog I knew I had to own them.
The enamel and crystal are remarkable considering the price, they are practically giving them away.
Experiencing some 'technical difficulties' with photobucket at the moment and am working hard to make sure you can all see my pictures. The IT department aren't going home until they get it fixed let me tell you.
Apart from that I have shopping and cocktails to attend to, have a lovely weekend and Happy Friday!

p.s- yes, I've had a hair cut, growing out my fringe and will be wearing it parted on the side for a while. I've stopped going to my long term salon and now see a rather excentric retired barber would you believe, that Mother Melbourne heard about. It's like going to an atelier to get a gown made- the man is a genius with scissors. No, he doesn't have a salon, you just have to know someone, who knows someone.....

Wake up sleepy head!
So maybe I was running late today because I slept in, and maybe it was because I was finishing my manicure. Rubbish excuses both of them, so to distract the party I was meeting I just waved my hands in their faces like mad woman. But you know it worked(for 5 minutes), and they were all rather impressed with my handy work, pun intended. Thank you to AusStyle who suggested I try this.
I forgot to tell you where this top was from I think last time I posted it- Valley Girl. I got it the same day I got the pants from the previous post. Both were meant to be 'around-the-manor-gins-ok-at-12pm' attire, but they are slowly making their way out onto the streets of Melbourne.
Thank you for your suggestions for a pale pink nail polish, the one in this post used as a base coat is Bourjois 'Rose Corset' from the So Laque! range. The beauty department reminded me that I did own one pale pink polish that generally sits rather lonely on the shelf, quite unused. Not any more!

I loved the way that my red skirt looked in the sun so I thought I'd swap things around and wear it again, just a little different.I don't own a lot of red, in fact I'm not even sure I like wearing it, but we are cooking at the moment(it's the hottest day ever recorded here in Melbourne, 46.4c) so it's kind of fitting I think!
Oh, and the skirt was a gift from a dear friend(you know who you are!) from an op-shop. My friends know me so well, not sure how many people would be thrilled with a gift from a charity shop but for me it is just perfect and I love it.
My love of pencil skirts is burgeoning- I have, er, well lets just say that they don't sit lonely in the wardrobe!

The blog turns 2 today, and I am officially into my third year of blogging.
For new readers, here is my first post when it was just myself and Mother Melbourne feeding my analytics everyday.
Your support, love and readership has given me so much over these last 2 years, the blog simply wouldn't be what is is without you, the reader.
As I can't reach out and pour you a martini myself, I hope I can give back to you by continuing to create beautiful pictures and interesting stories that will make you want to stop by everyday.

A Cherry for my Baby....
I often resolve to take more pictures outside, after all we are blessed with long summer days here at the moment. Somehow I never make it off the couch, a combination of familiarity and laziness I suspect.I thought that the best way to display just how much this skirt 'pops,' was to photograph it in full length, and in full sun. So I wriggled into it(they don't call them wiggle skirts for nothing!) and took my tripod for a little wander.
Last time I ventured to this spot for photos was last winter, so it is long overdue judging by how great the light is.
I met up with the delightful Porcelain Blonde today for a spot of coffee and tarts(hers strawberry, mine peach) at my favourite French cafe.
Apart from solving world peace and the global economic crisis, we discussed manicures as I am looking for some more subtle shades at the moment, and PP like me, does her own nails.
She suggested O.P.I 'Got a Date To-Knight' but if you have your own suggestions please comment or email me.
I have a few occasions coming up where bright red may not be so appropriate and would you believe, I don't own a pale pink nail polish. Shocking.

Pretty Porcelain
I got this idea for a cluster of figurines from a home wares magazine- apologies but I can't remember which one, it was one of those random magazines you read in a waiting room.Anyhow, I already had the cats, and I bought the lady last year intending to give it as a Christmas present that never transpired. I bought the dove the other day and am now on the look out for more little animals and what not, I would like to have the entire table covered with them.
I love pop and kitsch art, Jeff Koons is one of my favourite artists- here is his take on porcelain figurines.
Until I can afford a Koons original(ahem), I will have to settle with my little clusters about the house.
And yes, I ate all the chocolate biscuits.

Weekend wonder.....
I had a fab weekend, the highlight would have to be finding this Grathelms Couture dress at Savers for $9.00.
Clearly they had no idea what they were selling, these dresses and suits sell for thousands here in Melbourne and are sold through Cannes Boutique in Lt Collins St.
Then there was this little vintage Bonita Thai silk wiggle skirt, it's so shapely it should have a warning sign on it!
And finally I stopped in on The Book Grocer, where they sell all their books for $6. I have no idea how they do it as all the books are new and they have quite good titles.
I devour books, time permitting I read one every week to two weeks so this lot should do me for a while.
