Sew & Stuff part II

As promised, here is the second installment of my weekend sewing projects. I really love the sleeves on this, coupled with the fact that it was super easy to make.

I've never learnt to pattern make, just dress make so I find that I have enough knowledge to alter them( I popped the sleeves from this dress onto the lilac dress from the previous post, and made them bracelet length) but I need to work from a pattern to actually make something.

I've thought about doing a pattern making course, I figure then I can pretty much make what I want but I'm happy ambling along with my Janome for the time being.

Dress: Lady Melbourne
Trench: Zara
Boots: Primark
Scarf: A gift
Bag: Local op-shop

p.s- I made some new cushions as well, spot them if you can on the couch.

Sew & Stuff

I've spent most of the weekend sewing after buying up at The Job Warehouse on Friday.

I got some great fabric's for $5 a meter and was just itching to get some new dresses made. This is one of them, the other one is to come!

Spotlight are having 50% off all patterns as well, I'll be posting about what I used and dress I made in the next post.

Happy Friday!

Hello there, Happy Friday!

This skirt was given to me and at first I was a little unsure, but quickly fell in love with the electric blue in the skirt. It's my 'happy' skirt.

Every so often Penguin let me choose some books of their Popular Penguin list to send me. The latest batch arrived today so I have some hefty reading time ahead of me, but I love just having them on my shelf to look at while they wait their turn.

Busy Bee

This week has just gotten away from me, I can normally manage a post a day but alas work and play has not allowed it today.

I'm off to see Coco Avant Chanel this evening, I was thinking this little black and white tribute would work perfectly.

Night Call

It was the shortest day of the year today, or perhaps it was yesterday. Hhhhmmm...
'Big deal Lady Melbourne!' you might be saying, however the days being so short means it is impossible some days to photograph in the sunlight so photos taken after dark are essential.

I picked up this lovely lady at my local Salvo's store for $25 as is. It's in the original frame and has a nice little faded tag on the back saying the title( Miss. Hong Kong) and the artist(simply, 'Bial').

I absolutely love it!

Happy Friday!

Hi spies!
Welcome to Happy Friday, I am with you sans drink in hand because I celebrated H.F by doing brunch today with Lulki.
I suppose you could say I have a touch of Holy Golightly about me, in that if you gave me a choice, I would prefer to socialise in the evening rather than meet in the morning. It's a little new to me. Ahem.
I bought this scarf at a country op-shop yesterday for 50c, and then I made my rose quartz necklace to match and make it 'pop.' I don't like pink much, but I think these colours work in so other ways.
I'm off for cocktails now, you didn't think that brunch was all there would be on Happy Friday did you?! Ciao!

To Paddington!

I just adored Paddington Bear when I was a little girl, so when I found this coat at Camden Market I knew it just had to be mine.
The sleeves are a little bit short (I suspect it might have been made for a child!) but I don't mind that so much because I can wear pretty cuffs underneath.
It's rather foggy here today so I think a little bit of bright red will do just fine.

Sweater: Camden Market, London
Shirt: Vintage Lady Pelaco
Denim: Faberge from Retro Star

Guilty Pleasures

Last year I wanted some on trend shoes in a hurry and happened upon Urban Originals on eBay. I bought these two pairs of shoes and many of you emailed or left comments asking where on earth did I get them.
I don't normally buy cheap shoes, so it is somewhat of a guilty pleasure that once a year I buy a couple of pairs on eBay or from the U.O website.

These two pairs arrived in the mail today, I only purchased them last Friday so including the weekend they only took 4 days to get here from the states.
I didn't give the links last time as to where I had bought the shoes, but I'm over feeling embarrassed because so many people like them so here you go, shop with wild abandon!
Here and here.

Welcome Monday...

The sun was determined to peak through the clouds yesterday which meant that I could brave the wind and get out on my bicycle.
I've had this top for a while now but it never manages to make it to the pages of the blog for some reason! I bought it at Savers for a steal, it had a yucky blue collar that I duly unpicked as soon as I got it home.
I hope your Monday-itis isn't too bad!

Happy Friday

Happy Friday y'all!
I did a photo shoot today for the next issue of Fashion Journal, I can't reveal anymore until the mag comes out but it has the rather unassuming theme of 'Spring.'

That's all for now!

Sonia, Sonia, Sonia

I just love Sonia Rykiel, I picked this little jacket up on eBay. I found this quirky little item while doing a recent search, kind of cute!

I'm so glad you all liked the post on Melbourne, I must get out with my camera more often(not just when showing friends around) and photograph more of the city for you.

Marvellous Melbourne

When you have visitors to show around your city, sometimes you find yourself playing tourist yourself.
Melbourne in Winter is just glorious, if you ever decide to visit don't be put off by the winters here- they aren't that cold anyhow.

We took the ferry(if you can call it that, it's more like a little tug boat!) down to Williamstown for the day and then headed to Tiamo's for dinner. My camera had died by then but these should give you an insight in Melbourne in Winter.
